We offer reduced rates for local community groups, as well as regular, ongoing hires. If you are enquiring on behalf of a local community group, please let us know. Anything else, including birthday parties and business meetings, will be classed as a ‘private hire’.
Our Spaces for Hire
The Old Stable & Coach House
Originally used as the stable and coach house when Castle Hill House was a family home, these two rooms in our outbuilding are now used for events, as well as the Museum’s learning services.
Cafe
The Museum’s cosy cafe can be hired along with seating and tables. Availability limited.
Marquee
CURRENTLY NOT TAKING BOOKINGS
Erected on the Museum’s top lawn, the marquee is usually available April – September. Â

For that special occasion, Wycombe Museum offers the hire of our whole site – including the main building, stable block, grounds and marquee.

For that special occasion, Wycombe Museum offers the hire of our whole site – including the main Museum building, stable block, grounds and marquee. We understand that all events are different, so requests for whole site hire will be managed on a case by case basis. Additional Information
- Our Community Hire rate is for charities and organisations benefitting High Wycombe and the local area. Everything else (eg. private parties, receptions, business meetings) fall under our Private Hire rate.Â
- A 50% deposit and a completed booking form are required to finalise your booking. No bookings are confirmed until this point.
- A refundable damage deposit is required for all bookings. The amount will vary depending on usage.
- Saturday hires must be a minimum of 3hrs.
- The maximum capacity specified refers to the spaces unfurnished and with guests standing. Seating arrangements/floor plans will affect max capacities.
- Limited parking is available – up to 2 spaces can be reserved upon request. We recommend that all guests and attendees use on-street parking or local multi-storey car parks.
- Hires beginning after 4pm will require a minimum booking time of 2 hours
- Cancelled bookings may be liable to pay a percentage of the booking fee, depending on the length of notice given.
- Reduced rates are available for regular, ongoing hires.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I bring my own catering and refreshments?
Yes, you are welcome to. If this is being provided by an external business, we will need a copy of their public liability insurance, and hygiene certificates. Please note that we are not able to store anything for you, including in our fridges.
Can I hire you on a Monday?
We do not usually offer Monday hires as they can interfere with business essential to the running of the Museum. However, we will consider enquiries on a case by case basis.
Can I come in before my booking to set up?
Your hire time covers your arrival time to your leaving time. Any set up or clearing away must be done inside the booking times – please ensure to book sufficient time if you need it.
Can I hire an entertainer for a birthday party?
Yes, children’s entertainers are permitted, we just need to know you’re planning to use one, so please mention this during booking. We will need a copy of their public liability insurance, and a risk assessment for activities carried out.
Can I hire a bouncy castle?
Yes, we’re happy to host bouncy castles, provided they are outside, and on either a Saturday or as part of an exclusive whole site hire. We do not allow bouncy castles when the museum is open and there are members of the public also on site.
We will also need a copy of the public liability insurance, PAT testing and risk assessments from your chosen company.
Can I use candles and confetti?
One candle on a cake, or for religious purposes is permitted, however for anything more, LED candles should be used. Natural flower petals or biodegradable confetti only is to be used on our site, including inside balloons.
Can I serve alcohol during my hire?
Yes, with prior written agreement, hirers are welcome to serve alcohol to their guests in disposable cups. Alcohol cannot be supplied by guests, and it cannot be sold to guests without a ‘Temporary Event Notice’ from the local council, which should not be applied for without the Museum’s knowledge.
Can my guests bring their dogs?
The Museum does not allow dogs on site, with the exception of assistance dogs. Pets of any kind are not permitted on the site.
Owners must clean up their services dogs messes, and keep them on a lead at all times. Service dogs can enter the Museum and galleries, including the café.
Is smoking/vaping permitted on the site?
No. Please inform your guests to smoke outside of the site gates due to our site being an Scheduled Ancient Monument and parts of our building being Grade-II listed. Guests found to not be following this condition will be asked to leave the site.
