Join us on a journey through time!
Discover the life and times of Wycombe people from pre-history to modern day through their stories and their artefacts.
At Wycombe Museum we deliver creative, skills-based learning across the curriculum. From art and design, to geography, history, science and literature or if you just want to know more about your local area, we want to take you and your students on an incredible learning journey.
All sessions are linked to key stage learning outcomes and are based on principles of imagination, creativity, inclusion and growth.
What we offer:
- Taught sessions in the museum or your classroom.
- Explorer boxes on different themes, full of objects and learning resources to take away and support learning.
- Independent visits – supporting informal learning sessions in our galleries.
- Our knowledge! We want to support teachers in finding out how to make the most of the Museum’s collections, the local area, and teaching with objects.
Teacher Testimonials
‘All really great – lots of activities to keep the children engaged – thank you!’
Pre-school teacher
‘Great energy, inspiration, and knowledge shown by the learning team. We really loved that the sessions encompassed many areas of the curriculum – history, literacy, reading and role play, art and DT. We had a great day – thank you!’
Year 3 teacher
We had a lovely time and learnt loads. The facilities are fantastic and you pitched the learning at their level. I loved the variety of activities you provided. Ending the day with the craft session is exactly what ‘the doctor ordered’.
We have been to other museums but you are our favourite – well done to all involved. Having the café there for a much loved cuppa is an absolute bonus for teachers and support staff. Thank you ever so much.’
Year 2 Teacher
“Children were enthralled. A difficult topic to teach, made so much easier”
Year 4 teacher
“A brilliant trip today – a mark of how much the children enjoyed it was that they were still comparing the different role-play characters and their jobs back at school!”
Year 3 Teacher
‘I visited the museum with two Year 6 classes and the museum organised two workshops for us. They were both excellent. In the morning the children got to dress up as Victorians and put on a little play. They were told about the making of chairs in High Wycombe and were shown a variety of tools and accessories. I along with the kids learnt a great deal.’
