Come and visit us to see the Museum in all of it’s glory, and make use of our designated learning rooms.

Hands-on sessions in your school
We’ll come to you to deliver our learning sessions, and you can benefit from our learning team without having to go anywhere!

Objects To Go
We have a selection of loan boxes available for you to use in you classroom, either independently or as a follow up to a visit.

Would you like to cover an overview of local history with your whole school? Speak to us to find out what’s on offer.

Teacher’s briefings and professional development opportunities
The Education Team runs CPD sessions to help teachers find out how to make the most of the Museum’s collections, the local area, and teaching with objects. Training can be either at the museum or in your school. Contact us for more details.


On a dry day the museum garden provides a beautiful setting for a picnic. Lunch rooms are also available if you book in advance.

Our large shop sells souvenirs, books and resources for project work. We also offer  souvenir bags that can be ordered in advance.

The Museum has four toilets, one of which is accessible for wheelchair users.
