Teacher’s Chair
Those who teach can …keep an eye on 100 children at the same time!
Windsor chair, made in about 1910 and used in Princes Risborough. This chair is very tall so that the teacher sitting on it could see every child in a very large classroom. In Victorian times classes often had 100 or more children with only one teacher.
This chair was used at Bell Street School in Princes Risborough which closed in 1980. It is made of Ash with an Elm seat.
