Learning & Engagement Officer

This job has now been filled, and this listing is no longer active.

Part-time, 15 hours per week, days to be agreed
6-month fixed term contract
Salary: £10,600 p.a. (FTE £26,500)

Are you highly motivated with a passion for developing and delivering learning and connecting local people, both young and old, to collections and heritage stories? We are looking for a lively person with experience of museum learning and engagement to pilot new engagement around our chair discovery centre and support delivery of our learning programmes.

Wycombe Museum has been delivering excellent learning and engagement experiences for over two decades. In summer 2026 our long-anticipated Chair Discovery Centre opened. We want to trial different kinds of engagement to link with local audiences and communities to make a model for the future. This role will explore how we develop and deliver engagement around chairs and the Chair Discovery Centre.

You will be building on Wycombe Museum’s existing excellent handling collection, galleries and links with local schools, community groups and other organisations. Your role will be to work with local people across different ages and backgrounds to find new ways we can connect through our chair story and how the Chair Discovery Centre fits into our broader learning project. In this role you will also be managing learning on our site at Wycombe Museum, supporting delivery of our formal, informal and early years programmes and looking after our small team of learning volunteers.

This is a great opportunity to take our learning programme into new areas while working as part of a small and dynamic team with a focus on our local communities, bringing informal engagement with local stories to everyone.
