Community Development Officer

Part-time, 15 hours per week, days to be agreed
2 year fixed term contract
Salary: £14,600 p.a. (FTE £36,500)

Wycombe Museum is a vibrant cultural hub at the heart of High Wycombe, celebrating the history, stories, and heritage of the local community. As an independent museum and registered charity, we are committed to preserving local heritage while providing engaging experiences for diverse audiences through exhibitions, engagement and events programmes, and community partnerships.

As the museum enters an exciting phase of development, we are seeking a proactive and creative Community Development Officer to help strengthen our financial resilience and support our ambition to become more sustainable and self-sufficient. This role is central to enabling the museum to increase its independence and reduce reliance on external funding while safeguarding the future of its collections, programmes, and historic site. Through Museum Renewal funding we have recently developed a new fundraising strategy – your role will be to take ownership of fundraising across the organization using this plan to kickstart your work, building relationships with donors and our community and delivering income through grant funding, donors and local partnership work.

This role will suit someone who thrives in a small organisation, understands the unique challenges and opportunity this brings and who is motivated by building ambitious fundraising from the ground up. The successful appointee will combine strategic thinking with direct delivery, collaborating closely with the Director and Trustees to secure the next chapter of Wycombe Museum’s success.

This two-year role is funded by the Rothschild strategic fund and is intended to take the lead on developing fundraising initiatives that support long-term sustainability.
