Wycombe Museum is hiring:

Assistant Curator (Chair Project)

Part-time, 3 days per week
Fixed term contract -7 month contract
£9275 p.a. (FTE £26,500)

The two most important things at Wycombe Museum are people and chairs! This exciting project role is all about bringing the chairs to the people and ensuring the chair stories that are at the heart of the town’s history are available to all.

There are two main aspects to this role, work to support our new Chair Store and Study Centre, and work as part of our July Chair Festival with exhibitions and partnerships across the town.

  • The Chair Festival will include two exhibitions at Wycombe Museum, local partnerships and interpretation in the town centre. Your role will be to support partnership building and include reaching out to potential partners and maintaining those relationships. You will also play an active role in developing the exhibitions and be part of the curatorial team at the museum.
  • The Wycombe Museum Chair Study Centre is going to be a new store in the middle of town. We need to move, clean and relocate our chair collection to the new store. This element will include managing logistics, overseeing the move of chairs and ensuring their safety, and training and supervising volunteers to clean the chairs prior to the final move. You will also be part of the work to identify highlight chairs and develop interpretation for the store, plan future stores engagement, and work with our partners to make the store work for us all.

This is a really exciting funded project, within a small but dynamic team at Wycombe Museum focused on encouraging collections engagement for all within our area.
