My Restored Chair – Ann and Sue, Marlow

“Our chair has been re-covered, but we believe it still has the original horsehair stuffing in it. This chair is special because our Dad made it and because it’s the right size to curl up in and read the paper and have a cup of coffee while watching out for any birds in the garden, while leaning my head on the ‘wing’. Dad was a master carver and cabinet maker and he made this chair for his uncle. When his uncle died he left it to Dad and so it was used in our family home for a long time, together with all the other furniture Dad made for him and Mum – the three piece suite, the dining suite, bedroom furniture, kitchen table and swivel stools. All this furniture is still being used by family members. We don’t do social media and don’t really like the idea of photos of ourselves being online but we would love our chair to be part of this exhibition – it’s a great idea!”
