My Locally Made Chair – Pete Salmon, Speen

“My Great Grandfather, William Plumridge, owned the Plumridge chair factory in Speen, Bucks. He made a set of dining chairs as a wedding present to his daughter Elsie on her marriage to Archie Owen Janes. Great Uncle Arch and Great Aunt Elsie brought me up from the age of seven.

This chair is the only one of the set to survive. William may also have made this viola. I live about 150 yards from the old Plumridge’s furniture factory.”
