My Locally Made Chair – Heather Breed, Lacey Green

“I am a local upholsterer so I’m slightly obsessed with chairs. For my last year at college in Nettlebed I had to design and make a chair. I choose an eco theme and drew inspiration from nature while walking in the Chiltern hills. The steel frame was made for me by a local blacksmith artist.

I had a health crisis part way through the course (bowel cancer – all clear now though, thank goodness) and stitching this chair helped give me something else to focus on and calmed me in the similar way to mindfulness.”
