The Chilterns is home to amazing wildlife and plants. The chalky ground makes for unique habitats – super rare chalk streams, beech woodlands, and chalky grasslands.
Hunt around the museum’s beautiful grounds to uncover facts about 10 of the creatures and plants that make the Chilterns their home – find all 10 creature fact-files to claim your prize!
Best for children aged 4 – 11. Younger children are welcome to take part – they might just need a bit of extra help from a grown-up.
When can I do the trail?
This trail is available during the museum’s usual opening hours, 10am – 4pm, between Sunday 23rd July – Sunday 27th August, with a final date on Sunday 3rd September.
The Museum is closed on Mondays and Saturdays. Please see our Visit Us page for full opening hours.
How do I take part?
Trails are £3 per participating child, and include a prize.
Babes in arms or children too young to participate do not require a ticket.
You can buy your tickets in advance online here, or on the day when you arrive at the museum.
If you book online, you can buy them on the same day or in advance. Just show us your ticket or confirmation email when you arrive to collect your trail sheets.
