Wycombe Museum secured funding from Arts Council England’s Culture Recovery Fund to support us in redevelopment of the museum building and gallery spaces to make them as COVID secure as possible in anticipation of reopening later in the year.
Wycombe Museum is housed in a very old building with many narrow corridoors, nooks, and crannies which make it difficult to manage a safe, socially distanced flow of visitors. With this funding, we’re able to make changes to our spaces to better manage a safe COVID secure environment for our visitors. We’re currently working hard on revamping all of our existing galleries – ensuring that all of our displays and interpretation panels are easily wipable and sanitisable – as well as creating lots of exciting new exhibition content. There will be new and improved information about High Wycombe’s landscape, people, and history. The Culture Recovery Fund is supporting both the staff costs and the material cost of completing this big project, and once we’re excited at the prospect of being able to welcome visitors back in to see all of these exciting new changes in safe and secure ways.
We’d like to say a big thank you to Arts Council England for their support and making these exciting changes possible for us.
