Summer Holidays

There’s loads to do at the Museum over the Summer Holidays. We’ve got free and low-cost activities available daily, plus a huge range of kids events on every week. From crochet water balloon fights to crafting your own catapult, soap carving to clay dinosaurs and fossils – that’s not even mentioning our interactive galleries! 

Please pre-book to guarantee your spot and to help us prepare for our sessions – links to tickets are in each event description. 

Discover & Make: Make a Miniature Windsor Chair

Thursday 26 July | 10.30, 11.30am and 12.30pm

Find out about the world-famous Wycombe chair industry and craft your own miniature chair to take away.

Make your own catapult, ready to besiege your enemy and discover more about the medieval castle ruins in the museum garden. Perfect for primary age children – smaller ones may need a helping hand!

Splish Splash Splosh

Crochet your own re-usable water balloons and cool down from the summer heat with a water fight in the museum garden. Perfect for primary school age children – littler ones may need a helping hand!

Discover & Make: Squeaky Clean

Find out about life in the Victorian laundry and then get crafty with the washday things and try your hand at soap carving or make a peg doll. Perfect for primary school age children – littler ones may need a helping hand!

Did you know that Wycombe had its very own Roman villa with a beautiful mosaic? Come along and find out more and make a coaster out of glass mosaic tiles. Perfect for primary school age children – littler ones may need a helping hand!

Have fun moulding your favourite dinosaur in clay and find out about some of the fossilised sea creatures that were alive when the dinosaurs walked the earth! Perfect for primary school age children – littler ones may need a helping hand!

Enchanted Crafts

Wednesday 25 July | 11am – 1pm and 2 – 4pm
Wednesday 22 August | 11am – 1pm and 2 – 4pm

A workshop for all budding fairies, wizards and dragons. Make your own magic wand with lots of glitter, paint and sparkly beads. Dress up in magical costumes and take a photo in our beautiful grounds! Suitable for children of all ages.

Fox & Cubs Family Fun

Family outdoor sessions suitable for 2 to 6 years, following the format of our popular toddler forest school. Join us for seasonal themed activities, natural arts and crafts, campfire cooking and much more. You need not buy tickets for babes in arms or children too young to participate. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Includes drink and a snack.

Inflatables Day & TotStock Music Festival

Sunday 2 September | Inflatables: 12 – 5pm | Totstock: 2 – 4pm

Come down and enjoy some late summer bouncy castle fun, with pop-up children’s music festival TotStock. Introduce your kids to the power of live music with 2 entertainment acts, toys and competitions, plus endless fun on our bouncy castles and inflatables! Bar available all afternoon.

Community Open Air Cinema

Saturday 8 September | 7.30pm

The grounds of Wycombe Museum will be transformed for one night only into a community cinema for a viewing of The Greatest Showman – a bold and original musical that celebrates the birth of show business and the sense of wonder we feel when dreams come to life. Bring along your picnic blankets and deck chairs or hire a hot tub for an extra special viewing experience!
