Let Wycombe Museum help you celebrate in style!
Join us for a truly memorable birthday party, inspired by the Museum collection and grounds.
Wycombe Museum offer a number of led birthday party sessions including a fun mix of games, activities, and crafts inspired by the Museum, ideal for children aged between 5 – 8 years old. All sessions are led by Museum staff and include a break for a birthday tea. Our birthday party themes are:
Knights and Princesses
Make your own crowns, have a knighting or coronation for the birthday boy or girl, go on a quest to find hidden treasure, and play a game of pin the sword on the knight!
Travel back in time and have a go at a historic craft of your choice – make mosaics, clay pots, or carve soap – play a game of musical time zones, and race to find some Museum objects before they’re stolen by time travellers!
Embark on a bug hunt in the Museum gardens, make creepy crawly bug masks, play a fun game of nature bingo, and get creative to make a fantasy bug out of clay!
Ask us about cooking, crochet and forest school parties too!
Birthday party packages are 2 hours long (including a break for party food).
Parties are available at the following times:
Get 30 minutes free set up time before your party and 30 mins free clear up time.
Other times may be negotiated but will involve an extra cost after 5.30pm.
Invitations and thank you cards
Each birthday party package includes themed invitations and thank you cards that will be sent to you in PDF format to print off as you wish.
Number of children
The maximum total number of children for birthday party programmes is 15 to allow enough room for the activities to take place. Please confirm with us 5 days before the party how many children you are expecting.
Responsibility for the children remains with you. Please ensure you have sufficient adult helpers – for smooth running of the party we advise one adult is present for every six children. It is advisable to collect emergency contact telephone numbers for the children whose parents don’t stay at the party.
Please note staff are provided to lead the birthday party activities. They are NOT there to control, manage or maintain discipline with any of the children. Should this become an issue with any of the children, this will be brought to the attention of the party organiser and it is their responsibility to deal with the child or children concerned.
The cost of the birthday party is for all children who participate in the activities, younger or older siblings who do not participate are welcome free of charge but will need to be included in your overall numbers.
Wycombe Museum can provide party buffets in-house and locally homemade birthday cakes from our cafe supplier, Rachel’s Kitchen. If you are interested in the Museum providing catering, please specify in your enquiry. You are also welcome to supply your own food. You will have access to a sink with drinking water and to the small staff kitchen in the main museum building if it is required. In fine weather we encourage parties to picnic in the Museum Gardens, although the party room will also be available. Please note you will need to provide plates/cups or lunch boxes for the party.
The Museum operates a ‘no candles’ policy as we cannot have naked flames inside the Museum buildings. However you are welcome to take the cake outside in to the courtyard or gardens for the blowing out of the candles. Don’t forget matches!
We have a small car park at the rear of the Museum.
We will reserve you one space in the car park but can’t guarantee what other spaces will be available on the day.
Additional metered parking is available on the adjoining roads of the Green Way and Priory Avenue (The Greenway is charged at a cheaper rates).
A deposit of £50 is required in advance to confirm the booking. The balance is due on the day.
3 weeks notice is required to cancel your booking, after which the deposit becomes non-refundable.
