Opera on the Lawn  – with afternoon tea

Talk: Art and Design in the Chilterns
Sunday 20 October | 2pm


The Chilterns has played host to many artists and craftsmen. Hear Decorative Arts Historian Graham Twemlow talk on some of the 20th century artists who either made the Chilterns their home or found inspiration here. Works by artists such as, Paul & John Nash, John Piper, Eric Gill, Clare Leighton, E. McKnight Kauffer and the textile designer Marion Dorn will be discussed, and their contribution to the applied arts in its many forms. Talk will start at 2.15pm.

Ceramic Tiles Weekend Workshop

Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd November | 10am – 1pm


Join us for a weekend ceramics workshop creating Penn tiles – a traditional craft originating from Penn & Tylers Green in the 14th century. At the height of the industry, tiles were ordered from Penn to decorate parts of the Tower of London, Windsor Castle and Westminster palace. Over the weekend you will create moulds, form your tiles, decorate and glaze your creations using traditional techniques.

Indian Hand Embroidery Workshop
Saturday 16 November | 2 – 4pm


Master the embroidery technique of shisha – the art of attaching small mirrors to your project and add pretty embroidery around them. All materials provided. Handout will be available and embellishments for sale separately.
